Over the course of her career, Chris has worked on the agency side (ICM), the studio side (Paramount Pictures), the independent production side ("Marwencol" & "Spettacolo"), and the digital marketing & content side (from Participant Media to Universal Pictures); she has published articles and a book, and has had a stack of successful grant proposals. Chris will share the practical lessons she has learned at each stop and workshop how those lessons might apply to student projects and careers.


Chris Shellen
is a writer and filmmaker based in California. She produced the award-winning documentary MARWENCOL and co-authored the companion art book, Welcome to Marwencol, which was named one of the Best Books of 2015 by Amazon.com. She began her career as a film development executive based at Paramount Pictures, and has worked in documentary, narrative, and new media for over 15 years.
