Matias Piñeiro

Matias will show clips and discuss his body of work and influences, highlighting the relationship between cinema and theater in his work.


Matías Piñeiro was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1982.  He studied at Universidad del cine, where he taught Filmmaking and Film History. He has written and directed five films: “El hombre robado” (2007), “Todos mienten” (2009), “Rosalinda” (2010), “Viola” (2012) and “The Princess of France” (2014). In 2011, he moved to the United States to undertake the Radcliffe Institute Fellowship at Harvard University. In 2012, he continued his studies at New York University.His films have been shown in festivals such as Berlinale Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival and San Sebastian Film Festival. Oscilating between New York and Buenos Aires, he is currently shooting the fourth installments of his Shakespearean Project: "Hermia & Helena", his first English speaking film.
