Jeff Malmberg
is a documentary filmmaker based in California. His film MARWENCOL has won over 25 international awards, including two Independent Spirit Awards and Best Documentary of the Year from the Boston Society of Film Critics. In 2017, Malmberg directed the award-winning documentary SPETTACOLO with his partner Chris Shellen. The film is a portrait of a small Italian hill town that deals with conflict by turning its life into a play. It was supported by a Guggenheim Fellowship and grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Creative Capital, Sundance Documentary Fund, and the Tribeca Film Institute. In 2018, Malmberg edited the acclaimed documentary WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR about the life of Fred Rogers for director Morgan Neville. He is currently co-directing a new project with Neville through Tremolo Productions and working as a creative advisor for the Sundance and Film Independent documentary labs.
